Achieve Big Goals with Small Commitments

Achieving big goals can be overwhelming and daunting, but it doesn't have to be. One key to success is breaking down your big goal into small, manageable commitments that you can work on every day. In this blog post, we'll explore four strategies for achieving big goals with small commitments: writing them down, breaking them down, developing systems and habits, and working towards your goal every single day.

1. Write it down

The first step in achieving a big goal is to write it down. When you write down your goal, it becomes tangible and real. It also helps to clarify your thoughts and focus your energy on what you truly want to achieve. Writing down your goal also serves as a reminder of what you're working towards and helps you stay motivated.

2. Break it down

Breaking down your big goal into smaller, more manageable chunks can make the task less intimidating. It can also help you focus on the most important steps and make progress towards your goal.

For example, if your goal is to lose weight and improve your fitness for boxing, you could break it down into smaller goals like tracking your food intake, doing shadow boxing or road work every day, and doing strength training twice a week. By breaking down your goal, you can work towards it in small, incremental steps and celebrate each step of the way. The small goals could include increasing the number of rounds of shadow boxing or the distance of your road work, improving your punch technique or adding more weight to your strength training routine. Breaking it down and tracking progress as you go and celebrating the small wins, will give you a sense of accomplishment and will keep you motivated.

3. Develop systems and habits

Developing systems and habits can help you stay on track towards your goal and make it easier to maintain progress. For example, setting up a good boxing training routine by scheduling your training sessions for the week in advance will help you remain consistent and help you make progress towards your goals. Similarly, developing a habit of tracking your training progress, such as tracking the number of rounds you do on the heavy bag or the weight you lift can help make it easy to maintain progress. Additionally, Having a specific warm-up and cool-down routine, that you follow consistently can help you achieve the desired results and avoid injury. Keeping track of your progress and making adjustments accordingly can help you stay on track and motivated towards your training goals.

4. Work towards your goal every single day

Finally, the most important step in achieving a big goal is to work towards it every single day. This is not to say that you need to work on your goal for hours on end, but even just a few minutes of effort every day can add up over time. It is important to also not be too harsh on yourself if you miss a day, it is important to understand that it is not about perfection, but effort and consistency.

Achieving big goals doesn't have to be daunting and overwhelming. Remember to be consistent and persistent and remind yourself why it is important to you to achieve that goal. Don’t be afraid to ask for help or resources if needed.
